Betty Wood Orr, 85, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 16, 2019, in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 21, 2019, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Bob Hudson, retired Baptist minister, and Pastor Paul Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Orr was born May 26, 1934 in Florence, Colorado to Nellie and Edward Wood. As a young girl, her family moved to Pampa, where she attended schools and graduated from Pampa High School in 1955. After graduating, she attended the Draughon Business College in Amarillo. After college, Betty went to work for the City of Pampa Water Department for several years and then worked for Cabot Federal Credit Union. She later returned to the City of Pampa Water Department where she later retired.
Betty was a member of Bible Baptist Church for over 70 years where she selflessly served in many roles, which included Sunday school teacher, bus ministry and cook. She was a seamstress and she loved to sew for others, especially for her family. Betty will be remembered for having a servant’s heart who gave to others and who will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Charlene Wood of Pampa; two nephews, Jeff Teague and wife Ruthie of Davenport, Iowa, and Robert Pudwill and wife Heather of Amarillo; a niece, Robbi Pudwill and husband Chad Appel of Shattuck, Oklahoma; and other extended family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Ellen Warner; a brother, Donald Wood; a nephew, Dennis Wood; and a niece, Donna Wood Mejia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
