Pampa

Billy McCoy Addison, 88, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Pampa.

A visitation and viewing will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the funeral home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Interment will be at the Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Bill was born on May 8, 1935, in Archer City, Texas to Otis McCoy Addison and Velma Burns Addison. He graduated from high school in Plains, Texas in 1954. Bill served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving a stint in Korea during that time. He moved to Pampa in 1956, living in the community ever since. Bill worked as a material handler for IRI International Corp. for 33 years, before retiring in 1997.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Bobby Addison; and dear friends, Walker and Dorothy Bird.

Bill’s true love in life was for animals, especially dogs and cats. He never encountered a stray that he was not willing to help. He adored his last dog, Kelly, who he claimed to be the best dog ever. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to PAWS, PO Box 2095, Pampa, Texas, 79066-2095. Bill’s last wishes were “Leave it to the ones who cannot help themselves. The rest can go to work.”

A special thanks to all of Bill’s thoughtful caregivers at the Meredith Place, where he had been residing for nearly six years, and to the entire BSA Hospice of the Southwest staff, who provided the kindest care possible for the past several months.
