Billy Clifton Burnett, 66, of Pampa, passed away early Saturday morning, December 16, 2017, at home due to complications of his long 23 year battle with Still’s disease. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, December 23 from 1-5pm at the residence. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. He was born to the late J.B. and Loretta (Lagasee) Burnett in McCrory, AR on Aug 24, 1951. He grew up in Arkansas and briefly attended The University of Arkansas before relocating to Texline, TX in 1972 and marrying Atha (Coburn) Burnett, his wife of 45 years. He drove a truck and operated heavy equipment for 18 years, with career stints in deep-sea salvage, crab and lobster fishing, farming, ranching and the oil field. He owned a pivot irrigation service for 22 years and worked all over the tri-state area. He was a hard worker and a quiet man who rarely spoke but loved his family, would help anyone in need, loved his animals and reading books. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and two sisters; Jackie Waide and Altha Clark. He is survived by his wife, Atha Burnett of Pampa; three sons, Brent Burnett of Pampa, Billy Ray Burnett of Pampa and Eric Waide of Texline; one daughter, Stacy Burnett of Pampa; his stepmother, Juanita Burnett of Amarillo; two brothers, Leslie Gregory of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Matt Lefever, of Amarillo; two sisters, Perria Burnett of Amarillo, and Eutophia King of Pueblo, Colorado; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
