Billy Wayne Scribner, 70, of Pampa passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, and Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Billy was born December 23, 1948 in Pampa to Lawrence and Bonnie Scribner. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1967 and went to play football at East Texas State University in Commerce; later transferred to West Texas State University. In 1971 he began his career in welding, where he worked for several different businesses through the years which include, J.E. Carlson Construction, McGinnis & Crawford, Nelson-Sikes, Inc. from 1973 until 1985, Natural Pipeline of America, and Flint Engineering & Construction Co. until 1988. Billy Scribner Welding began in 1988 and in 1990 he became incorporated and Billy Scribner Welding, Inc operated until 2002. After he retired from welding he became a consultant for businesses such as Four Winds Construction, Venables Pipeline, and Williams Welding, Inc.
Billy married Cathy Daugherty on June 23, 1973 in Pampa. He was a member of the Pampa Roping Club, Top O’ Texas Rodeo Association, where he served as president, and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pampa. When Billy was younger, he would spend time water skiing and became very good at it. He loved to participate in team roping, spending time outdoors, raising cattle, farming, and ranching. After his retirement Billy could be found at various places around town visiting such as; Harvester Donuts, Hamburger Station, Green County Equipment, and Oasis restaurant in Mobeetie. He loved his family and very rarely missed any of his children’s or grandchildren’s events. He was a great PaPa to his seven grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Myron Scribner and brother in law, Jeff Mayfield.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy of the home; his son, Garrett Scribner and wife Carisa of Pampa; two daughters, Misty LeBlanc, O.D. and husband Toby and Lindsay Hudson, O.D. and husband Matt all of Pampa; a sister, Becky Scribner Mayfield of Pampa; sister in law, Helen Scribner of Haslet; seven grandchildren, Hudson Scribner, Hope Scribner, Tate LeBlanc, Cy LeBlanc, Hagen Hudson, Stran Hudson, and Stockton Hudson; three nieces, Julie Morris of Troy, Anna Bagley and husband Neil of North Richland Hills, Laura Davis and husband Doug of Aledo; two nephews, Brandon Mayfield of Aledo, and Michael Daugherty and wife Shauna of Lemorre, CA.
Memorial can be made to First Baptist Church, 203 N. West St., Pampa, Texas 79065.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
