Billy Andrew Turner, Jr., 73, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Kentucky Avenue Church of Christ with Scott Futrell, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Billy was born on June 11, 1948 in McLean to Billy Andrew Turner, Sr. and Winifred Mae Edis Turner. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1966. He then joined the National Guard in the late 1960's, where he proudly served his country for 10 years. Billy married Barbara Cook on December 28, 1976 in Pampa. He was an active member of the Kentucky Avenue Church of Christ for most of his life. Billy was always willing to serve, in whatever capacity was needed, at the church. He worked at Cabot for 10 years before taking a job with Celanese in the maintenance department. Billy continued working at Celanese for 25 years until the plant closed down in December of 2010. He began working at AutoZone in January 2010. Billy retired, 10 years later, in January of 2020. He served on the Pamcel Credit Union board for several years. Billy enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He took care of everyone, not just his family. Billy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jennifer Tomlinson.
Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Turner, of the home; 4 daughters, Tami Ellis and husband Ron of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Cathy Horton and husband Jerry of Claude, Cheri Massey and husband Michael of Beeville, and Cassie Shirley and husband Tim of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Shanna Boily, Andrew "Andy" Akins, Ashley Akins, Jeremy Horton, Elizabeth Pike, Heather Cooper, Kayla Massey, John Massey, Macy-Kate Shirley, and Evan Shirley; 7 great-grandchildren; and 5 siblings, Loretta Turner and Nelda Copeland and husband Randy, all of Pampa; Dexter Turner and wife Janie of Fort Worth, Christina McCown and husband Robert of White Deer, and Neil Turner and wife Usha of Edmond, Oklahoma.
