Bubba Ray was born July 30, 1964 in Pampa to Marston “Sonny” and Mary Burney. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1982. Soon after high school he started welding in the oilfield for several years. Bubba Ray also worked as a cowboy, sorting and processing cattle. He drove a truck, hauling various items such as cattle, milk, dirt, and other equipment for a few years before starting his own hotshot business, Burney Welding Service. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed tinkering with pickups, fixing them up and reselling them. Bubba Ray was a talented leather artist. At a young age he began working with and repairing all types of leather. He enjoyed watching PBR, PRCA, and the Ranch Rodeos. His personality was big and loving, and he could tell amazing stories. He was a Christian and loved the Lord, and that only became more obvious after he attended a Walk to Emmaus.
He was preceded in death by his triplet sisters, his father, Marston “Sonny” Burney, and his stepfather, Papa John Green.
Survivors include his significant other, Deana Pepper of the home; 2 daughters, Laci Jo Burney and Pepper Rae Burney both of Canyon; 2 brothers, Andrew Tennison and wife Barbara and Danny Paul Orand and wife Ashlee all of Pampa; a sister, Cathymarie Cloud of Pampa; his mother, Mary Jinks Green of Pampa, an uncle, Tollie Jinks of Pampa; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
