C. F. “Shorty” Lilley, 95, of Pampa, died July 12, 2017 in White Deer. Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jimmye Cole, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Lilley was born July 16, 1921 in Durant, Oklahoma. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1942, serving on the USS South Dakota in the South Pacific. He was on the dock in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the unconditional surrender between Japanese forces and MacArthur. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Shorty married Pauline Franklin on May 25, 1947 in Durant. They lived in Skellytown most of their married life. She preceded him in death on September 2, 1993. He had been a resident of Pampa since 2005. Shorty loved to work on tractors and Cushman scooters. He was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed friends and family and attending all of his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include two daughters, Paulette Lilley of Pampa, and Janette Coats and husband Pat of White Deer; a son, Gerald Forrest Lilley and wife Cheryl of Pampa; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, July 17, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
