Cameron Troy Simpson, 54, of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, passed away on August 17, 2023 at his home.
A memorial service in Pampa will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Donald Hill, officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Services for Cameron Troy Simpson in Thomas, Oklahoma, will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the Freedom Worship Center, in Thomas, OK, with Jerry Yoder, officiating.
Cameron Troy Simpson was born December 30, 1968, in Johnson, KS, to Chester Thomas Simpson and Sandra Erlene (Frazee) Patterson and passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home in Burns Flat, OK. Cameron’s family moved around during his childhood, living in Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma. He spent the last two years of schooling in Balko, Oklahoma where he graduated from Balko High School with the Class of 1987. After high school, he attended Panhandle State. He enjoyed playing football in high school and college. In 1988, he enlisted in the United State Army.
On January 3, 1994, Cameron married Jana Moenter in Fort Sumner, New Mexico and they made their home in the Amarillo area, where Cameron worked in construction doing remodels. He also enjoyed working on feedlots and working with cattle. He moved to Thomas in 2013. Cameron enjoyed working with his hands and with horses and cattle. He had an amazing voice and he loved to sing. Cameron’s family will remember his story telling, telling the same stories over and over.
He lived a full life, will be missed by his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being Papa to his two grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Simpson; stepfather, Keith Patterson; his brother, Jeff Patterson; and sister, Marla Hornsby.
Cameron is survived by his mother, Sandy Patterson of Llano, TX; one son, Chance Simpson of Weatherford; one daughter, Caitlyn Simpson and Trevor McSperitt of Weatherford and their two children, Asher and Atley McSperitt; and siblings, Kimberly and Jason Schroeder of Llano, TX, Alana Mowry of Skellytown, TX, Patty and Andrew Beard of Pampa, TX, Mark Patterson of Pampa, TX and Joey Patterson of Canyon Lake, TX; seven nieces; four nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
