Clara Hoskins, 85, of White Deer, passed away February 21, 2018 in Amarillo.
Entombment services will be 9:30 AM Monday, February 26, 2018, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Pampa, and funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 26, 2018, at First Baptist Church in White Deer, with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mrs. Hoskins was born March 17, 1932 in Carson County to Julius and Dora Meaker. She graduated from White Deer High School and then attended Colorado Women’s University in Denver. Clara married Eugene Hoskins on August 16, 1941 in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2011. She was a homemaker for many years. She retired from NuWay Cleaners and Dry Goods after many years of service. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in White Deer. Clara enjoyed sewing, working puzzles, reading and going to the horse races. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them. She was an avid sports fan.
Clara was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Meaker and Julius Meaker, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Ricky Hoskins of White Deer; a daughter, Mina Freeman and husband Bill of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Torie Ellison of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Katherine Hoskins of Norman, Oklahoma; two grandsons, William Herring and wife Lisa of Celina, and Nolan Hoskins of Temple; a great grandson, Mason Herring; and a great granddaughter, Harper Herring.
