“If you wish yourself well served, serve yourself” were words of wisdom shared with others throughout the life of Carl Edgar Kennedy, 87, beloved husband and father who entered heaven on October 11, 2019 when his faith became sight as he was greeted by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Carl was born in Pampa, Texas on August 25, 1932 to Clarence and Mabel Kennedy completing their family which included his brother Hansel and sister Gloria. After graduating from Texas Tech with a degree in business Carl served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958 and continued in the reserves as a Captain until 1968. Carl married Patricia Reynolds in 1959 and the couple moved to Los Angeles where Carl worked five years for Hughes Aircraft. After the birth of the first three children Carl and Pat moved back to Pampa where Carl joined Pat's father and brother Butch in farming and ranching as a partner in Wiley Reynolds and Sons. The addition of the twins to the family found the young couple on a journey to Denver for a business venture with Carl's brother Hansel where Carl and Pat began attending Holly Hills Bible Church. It was during the next five years in Denver that God laid a foundation of biblical knowledge in Carl and Pat's life and was preparing Carl's heart to take on the responsibility of Gray County judge. Returning to Pampa in 1975, Carl was approached by a number of local business leaders and asked to consider running for Gray County Judge. Carl was elected four times serving a total of sixteen years as judge before his retirement. During his tenure as judge, Carl was instrumental in selling Highland General Hospital and getting the contract for what is now Pampa Regional Medical Center. Additionally, he was involved in bringing the TDCJ Jordan Unit to Pampa and the construction of the Gray County jail. Carl served on many boards including the Pampa Area Foundation as well as serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Carl was a founding member of both The Bible Church of Pampa and Faith Bible Church where he served as an elder and adult Sunday School teacher. Carl will be remembered most for his servant's heart. In every area of life whether it was at home or in the public Carl found a way to serve others. One of his life mottos was "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". In addition to a life of service, Carl was a true handy man. He never wasted anything and would work to repair everything from a Timex watch to a John Deere tractor. A fond memory of his children is when he removed his hearing aid battery to repair a food processor. It worked like a charm!
The family would like to express their appreciation to Interim Hospice and special heartfelt thanks to Maria Copado for loving our dad and joining our family.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Pat; his son, Doug Kennedy and wife Kimberly of Lubbock and their daughters, Jocelyn, Julia, and Jentre; daughters, Kendra Blades and husband Orville of Pampa and their children, Trevor, Blake, and Chandler and Trecia Lascor and husband Mike of Denver, Colorado and their children, Nicklaus and Caroline; and twin sons, Wiley Kennedy and wife Lia of Santa Clarita, California and their children, Katelyn, Mackenzie, and Wyatt and Worley Kennedy and wife Danina of Pampa and their children, Taylor and Elise. Carl has been blessed with 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, his brother and sister and grandsons, Jaten Kennedy and Payton Lascor.
