Carol Joan (Green) Wade, 70, of Pampa passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jamisen Hancock, of Briarwood Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Her service will be live streamed through the funeral home website.
Carol was born November 22, 1950 in Slaton to Bill and Cleo Green, where she grew up and attended high school. Carol graduated from Texas Tech in 1972, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economic, Clothing and Textile Design, with a minor in Art. She began her career at Dottie Dan in Lamesa, as a designer of infant clothing. In 1978, she moved to Lubbock to take a job at Highland Hospital. There she married William (Bill) E. Wade at the First Baptist Church on April 16, 1981. They moved to Pampa in 1993 and she began her teaching career with Pampa Independent School District. With teaching she found her true calling, becoming instrumental in so many young lives. Carol displayed unlimited passion, and patience, when it came to helping and encouraging students to earn a diploma. She truly cared for her students and their futures, feeling a responsibility to help produce quality citizens for her community.
A book detailing Carol’s life would contain many chapters and funny short stories. She was very uniquely talented in anything she set her mind to, often leaving others around her in complete awe and feeling less than adequate, though that was the furthest from her intentions. Her luck was uncanny, and the casinos feared her. Carol was also proud of her Potawatomi Indian heritage. Carol fiercely loved her family friends and could be counted on in any situation because she knew the answer. She will be missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, William E. “Bill” Wade, III;
3 sons, Shawn Lauderdale and wife Meredith of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Trey Lauderdale of Pampa, and Eric Wade and wife Megan of Amarillo; 3 brothers, Loyd Green of Abilene, Randy Green and fiancée Dara Mayne of Lufkin, and Mike Green and wife Tracy of Slaton; a sister, Susan Talkmitt and husband Gerald of Lubbock; and “Mimi” to her 6 grandchildren, Lexxi Lauderdale, Sophia Sweeney, Marin Sweeney, Maxwell Sweeney, Chevy Lauderdale, and Legend Lauderdale and Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
