Charlene Wood, 83, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Pampa, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2020, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Bob Hudson, retired Baptist minister, and Pastor Paul Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Charlene was born November 20, 1936 in Florence, Colorado to Nellie and Edward Wood. As a young girl, her family moved to Pampa, where she attended schools and graduated from Pampa High School in 1955. After graduating, she attended the Draughon Business College in Amarillo. After college, Charlene went to work for Cabot Corporation and later for Whitehouse Lumber as secretary and bookkeeper. She finished her career as a Group Manager for Alco.
Charlene was a member of Bible Baptist Church for over 70 years where she selflessly served in many roles, which included Sunday school teacher, bus ministry and bookkeeper. She will be remembered for having a servant’s heart who gave to others and who will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two nephews, Jeff Teague and wife Ruthie of Davenport, Iowa, and Robert Pudwill and wife Heather of Amarillo; a niece, Robbi Pudwill and husband Chad Appel of Shattuck, Oklahoma; and other extended family.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Warner and Betty Orr; a brother, Donald Wood; a nephew, Dennis Wood; and a niece, Donna Wood Mejia.
Charlene had a heart to help with tuition for Bible College. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bible College Tuition Relief Fund, PO Box 1435, Pampa, TX 79066.
