Charles “Charlie” G. Chandler, 68, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his home.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Frost Street Mission with Pastor Grant Johnson, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Charlie was born on September 9, 1956 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Charles LeRoy and Rita Lucille Sulesky Chandler. He graduated from Iroquois High School in the mid-70s. After graduation, Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in the late 70s. Charlie then moved to Pampa where he met the love of his life, Deborah Killough, while she was working at a restaurant. They were married and spent over 35 years happily married until Deborah’s passing in 2016.
Charlie worked as a roughneck in the oilfield for several years until an injury forced him to retire in 2008. After retiring, Charlie spent his time fishing, watching Nascar and football, and getting very frustrated with every game of mahjong. Charlie was the captain of the “Degenerates” in a local pool league.
He was a kind and big-hearted man that was supportive not only to his own children, but also to all his “adopted” children. Charlie was also a very good mechanic and could fix just about any car troubles that his sons brought to him. He loved attending church at the Frost Street Mission, going for walks, and caring for his cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rita Chandler; his wife, Deborah Killough; his father and mother-in-law, H.M. and Juanita Killough; one sister, Christine McClelland; and brother, Charles Winslow.
Charlie is survived by his three sons, Calib Chandler, Cory Chandler, and Chris Chandler all of Pampa; one sister, Cheryl Winslow of Albion, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Sydney Aranda, Brooklyn Wadsworth, and Mason Wadsworth; adopted son, Anthony Chaves aka Anthony Chandler; special niece, Amy McClelland; several other nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and his five cats, Homie, Jr., Gray Baby, Spot, Speedy, and Blackey.
