Charles Clark

January 10, 1934 — September 12, 2023

Miami

Charles Clark, 89, a steadfast pillar of the Miami/Pampa community, took his final flight upward on September 12, 2023 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Miami Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Reeves and Rev. Lewis Holland, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Charles was born January 10, 1934 in Pampa to Willis and Adelia Clark. His journey through life was one marked by dedication, passion and service. Charles’s love for the skies was undeniable, having been a private pilot for many years. The thrill of flying was more than a hobby! Charles remained deeply rooted in Roberts County, where he lived and worked throughout his life. He and his brother, William, formed Clark Brothers Construction for 20 years, using motor graders, bulldozers, and his favorite, the Super-C. He also loved and enjoyed his ranch, the 7-Bar.

A dedicated family man, Charles’ unwavering love and commitment to his family were his hallmark. His family stood at the heart of every decision he made, every risk he took, and every path he treaded. His dedication extended beyond his immediate family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren called him “Ol Dad”, which his first grandson started. Charles was a proud member of the Miami Methodist Church; he nurtured his faith acting as a 2nd grade Sunday School teacher and served on various committees throughout the years. He was a member of the Miami Lions Club, served on the Miami School Board, Miami Volunteer Fire Department, and Roberts County Museum. The lessons and friendships from his time at Texas Tech University, where he proudly represented the Sigma Nu fraternity, stayed with him, shaping ideas and values.

To know Charles, was to know a man of integrity, commitment and love. As he is remembered, may we celebrate the legacy he left behind, one filled with memories of joy, lessons of resilience, and tales of a life lived at the fullest. His absence will be profoundly felt, but his spirit will forever soar in the skies he so deeply loved. Safe travels, Charles, fly high and free.
