Chris Dittberner, 71 of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Pampa.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Chris was born July 25, 1951 in Pampa to Walter and Helen Dittberner. He grew up on his family farm in Panhandle and graduated from Panhandle High School in 1971. While in high school, he was known all around as one of the fastest street racers. He also did some drag racing at the Amarillo Dragway. On November 27, 1974 he married Pam Mayer in Pampa. Chris worked over 40 years in the oilfield, working most of his career with Baker Oil Tools in Pampa and a few years with Weatherford in Perryton before his health started failing. When his children were growing up, they enjoyed going to the lake fishing and boating, camping, and riding 3-wheelers at Little Sahara Sand Dunes and Blue West by Lake Meredith.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Bob and Lajuana Mayer; and a brother-in-law, Kenny Mayer.
He is survived by Pam Dittberner of Pampa, a daughter, Kimberly Brown and husband Colby of Pampa; a son, Michael Dittberner and wife Melissa of Pampa; a grandson, Andrew Brown and two granddaughters, C’Aire Porter and Destiny Porter all of Pampa; sister, Nancy Dittberner of Pampa; a nephew, Clay Creek and wife Kayla of Elk Horn, Iowa; and a niece, Crystal Perez and husband Sergio of Elmo.
