Cora B. Barnum, 86, of North Richland Hills, and formerly of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, in North Richland Hills.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Jim Sinyard, pastor of Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Cora was born on March 13, 1936, in Garfield, Arkansas to Lloyd and Opal Dean. When she was very young, her family moved to Washburn, Missouri. When Cora was 18, she moved to Brownwood, Texas. There she met Bruce Barnum, and the two were married in Brownwood shortly after their meeting. A few years into their marriage, the couple had their daughter, Darla, whom they loved dearly. Bruce was in the Navy, so he and the family was stationed in several different cities in the U.S. throughout his years of service.
In 1963, Cora and the family moved to Pampa, because Bruce took a job at Cabot. While in Pampa, Cora was a homemaker. On several occasions, Cora and Bruce would take off on weekend trips after work. The two loved to travel and be with each other. They were happily married until Bruce’s passing in 2004. A few years later, Cora moved to North Richland Hills to be closer to her family. She loved to be with her daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by each one of them.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce Barnum; and four brothers, Harold Lloyd Dean, Larry Joe Myers, Louis Henry, and Eugene Henry.
She is survived by her daughter, Darla Hernandez and husband George of Richland Hills; two granddaughters, Amanda Martinez and husband Adam of Euless and Laura Hernandez and husband Dakota Ford of Hurst; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Matthew, Luke, and Autumn; one brother, Billy Ike Henry of Missouri; one sister, Pearl Henry of Missouri; cousin, Jimmy Stanley of Pampa; and numerous other relatives.
