Danita Clark, 85, of Pampa, went to her heavenly home on August 2, 2021.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 9, 2021 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The family requests all attendees of the service to wear a mask and please socially distance. For those that cannot attend, the memorial service will be live streamed on the facebook page “Central Baptist Pampa”.
Danita will be available for viewing from 1:00-8:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00-8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Danita was born on September 27, 1935 in Harrison, Arkansas to Madalynne and Charles Collins. As a young girl, her family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where she grew up and graduated school. After high school, she met Carroll Clark and they wed on June 4, 1955. They later moved to Pampa in 1979 with Carroll’s work. In 1986 they opened Clark’s Propane which they both owned and operated until their retirement in 1998. They shared 57 blissful years before he preceded her in death on October 31, 2012.
Danita was an active woman who liked to help others. She volunteered at Good Sam’s, and Pampa Celebration of Lights from 1992 to 2008, and was a dedicated member and servant at Central Baptist Church. She also enjoyed working at the local election office. Danita was a very good cook whether it was for her church or family, and she always made the best tasting and most beautiful pies. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and taking care of herself by practicing Yoga. As a member of the Cherokee Nation, she was proud of her heritage and the strong Cherokee women who went before her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and church.
Danita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll; a brother, Charles Collins; and two sisters, Colleen Mitchell and Madge Kossey Boren.
Her survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Cummings and husband Clif of Missouri City, and Paula Girvin of Dallas; a son, Mark Clark and wife Leslie of Pampa; a grandson, Zachary Cummings of Missouri City; three granddaughters, Joy Lindgren and husband Andrew of Fort Belvoir, VA, Wendy Brack and husband Joshua of Manhattan, Kansas, and Haley Smith and husband Spencer of Pampa; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Lindgren of Fort Belvoir, VA; a brother, Jerry Collins and wife Betty of Borger; and other extended family.
