Darlene Vickery

Darlene Vickery, 70, of Pampa, passed away, December 21, 2021 in Pampa.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jim Sinyard of the Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Darlene's service will livestreamed through the funeral home's website.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Darlene was born on July 22, 1951, to Viola and Clyde Abshire in Courtney Flat, OK. As a young teen, she moved to Pampa, and she would become a life-long resident. As a young lady, she met Charley Douthit and they married and had their two children, Jerry & Trina. They would later part ways but always remained friends. Darlene would find love again when she met Larry Vickery. They shared several years before he preceded her in death. Darlene was a hardworking woman who performed several different jobs and roles through the years. She worked for the Pampa Independent School District, Gray County Latchkey, and she owned and operated Triangle Mini-Storage for many years. Darlene liked to shop, bake, and found a lot of peace when she could be at her lake house. But her family brought her the most joy and she found great enjoyment being around all of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Jerry Douthit; a brother, Bobby Abshire.

Her survivors include a daughter, Trina Garcia and husband Abram of Pampa; five granddaughters, Ashley Hernandez of Lubbock, Laci Hernandez of Pampa, Tara Garcia of Borger, Kallie Douthit, and Carlie Douthit, both of Pampa; three grandsons, Aaron Hernandez, Nicholas Garcia and wife Karolina, and Oliver Garcia, all of Pampa; a brother- Wilbur Ray Abshire of Gilmer; nine greatgrandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Traci Douthit of Pampa; and other extended family.
