Darrel Gibson, 82, of Pampa, passed away on December 16, 2024, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Norman Rushing, a retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00- 7:30 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Darrel was born on February 25, 1942, in Memphis, TX to Philip and Inez Gibson. He graduated from school in McLean. He met the love of his life, Sue Brown and they married on July 29, 1961, in Kellerville. They had two children and shared over 63 years of marriage before his passing.
After high school, Darrel went to work for John Deere as a mechanic serving 52 years, and of those 34 years being with Crossman Implements, which was owned by Gabe and Jimma Crossman, who were very dear friends. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting & fishing, and especially spending time with his family. He was a hardworking and loyal man of integrity. Darrel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and by two sisters.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Sue Gibson of the home; a daughter, Traci Wells and husband Dwayne of Waco; a son, Brad Gibson and wife Lisa of Pampa; grandchildren, Joshua Gibson-Roark and husband Jeremy of Amarillo, Cassie Willis and husband Jacob of Andrews, Benjamin Gibson and wife Natalie of Pampa, Cali Noble and husband Bryant of Pampa, Andrew Wells of Waco, and Nathan Wells of Waco; great-grandchildren, Easton, Addyson, Hallie, Blythe, Colbie, Crosby, Bradley, Hayes, Sloan, Bryer, and Beker Phillip; sister, Diane Gibson of Amarillo; and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
