Darrell Hinkle, 81, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Darrell was born May 8, 1936 in Pampa. He graduated from Canute High School in 1954. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He moved to Pampa in 1958 and later that year joined the Air National Guard. He was discharged in 1964. Darrell worked at Cabot for 42 years, retiring in 2002 as a lab tech. He also owned and operated Rainbow Ice Company on Alcock Street from 1979 to 1990. He married Norma Self on March 14, 1992 in Pampa. Darrell enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing and fishing. In 1990, he learned to play the guitar and eventually talked Jennifer into learning. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of First Baptist Church and taught a men’s Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by a son Jeffery Hinkle in 1997.
Survivors include, his wife Norma of the home; one daughter, Jennifer Hinkle-Mitchell and wife Holly of Amarillo; one sister, Gail Cooper of Pampa; his niece, Keziah Bussell and husband Nate, and their son Tanner, all of Amarillo and numerous other family members.
