David Dwight Boyd, 62, of Lefors, passed away on October 26, 2019 in Amarillo.
Celebration of life services will be 2:00 Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Retired Baptist Minister, Rev. Lewis Ellis, officiating. Military honors courtesy of Pampa VFW #1657. Cremation and services are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
David was born on February 3, 1957 in Lamesa to Nina and Derl Boyd. As young boy, his family moved to the Panhandle and they would live in Skellytown, Lefors, and eventually in Pampa where he attended school and made many friends along the way. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Sterret and being a proud Shellback.
After leaving the Navy, he returned to Texas working as a diesel mechanic for JT Richardson and owning and operating Boyd’s Garage. David was a lifetime member of the Pampa Rifle and Pistol Club and the NRA. The things that brought him the most joy was his job as a mechanic, Harley Davidson motorcycles, guns, but what mattered most was his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Willie Hathaway; and by a nephew, Richard Lynn Ward.
His survivors include his wife, Vicki Hathaway of the home; two daughters, Gia Scarafiotti of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Victoria Scarafiotti of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one son, Dante Wilbon of the home; a sister, Debi Alexander and husband Larry of Paducah, Kentucky; a brother, Dennis Boyd and wife Odie of Lefors; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
