Debra Matthews

Debra Matthews, 66, of Pampa, passed away on March 2, 2022 in Pampa.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, March 7, 2022 at Carpenter’s Church with Pastor Jim Sinyard, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Debra was born October 22, 1955 in Crowell to Lewis and Tula Ellis. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1973. She married Boyd “Butch” Matthews on August 4, 1986 in Andrews, Texas. Together they lived in many different communities and have lived in Pampa for the past 22 years. Over the years, she worked various jobs with the last being a jailor at Gray County Sheriffs Office and she has always been a care giver. Debra was a long-time member of Carpenter’s Church. She was a wonderful friend that was full of life and had a loving and caring heart. Debra had a deep love for all animals, especially her 5 dogs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Tula Ellis on February 3, 2022.

Survivors include her husband Boyd “Butch” Matthews of the home; 2 sons, James Scalf and wife Jane Ann of Mustang, Oklahoma and Joel Scalf and wife Heather of Amarillo; her father, Lewis Ellis of Pampa; sister, Katie Burris of Pampa; 2 brothers, Stan Ellis and wife Theresa of Rockport and Greg Ellis and wife Nancy of Booker; and 4 grandchildren, Avery, Liddy, Luke, and Lyla.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00-7:30 PM.
