Debra Phillips, 68, of White Deer, went to be with our Lord on October 4, 2024 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of White Deer with Brother Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the funeral home.
Debra was born on September 10, 1956 in Shidler, Oklahoma to John and Gladys Simmons. She was raised in Skellytown. She married Galen Phillips on July 31, 1976 in White Deer. They were married until his passing on October 12, 2019. Debra was a homemaker for several years until she earned her EMT certification in the 90’s. She later went on to receive her bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy in the mid 2000’s and worked at Pampa Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2020.
Debra enjoyed quilting, camping, going on long drives with Galen, and playing games with the ladies from her church. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of White Deer. Debra loved all animals and truly enjoyed taking care of them. However, there was nothing Debra loved more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved with her whole heart and was the most genuine person you could ever hope to meet. Debra was a God-fearing woman. She was a good listener, generous, honest, warm, and most of all loving. Debra will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen Phillips; her parents, John and Gladys Simmons; and two brothers, Larry Simmons and Winfred “Brub” Simmons.
Debra is survived by her two sons, Clayton Phillips of Michigan and Scott Phillips and wife Shirley of White Deer; one brother, Johnny Don Simmons of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Linda Simmons of Pampa; four grandchildren, Cambrie Phillips, Chloe Phillips, Timothy Phillips, and Andrew Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Pampa Animal Welfare Shelter, PO Box 2895, Pampa, Texas, 79065 or the First Baptist Church of White Deer, PO Box 337, White Deer, Texas, 79097.
