Della Mae McCampbell, 89, of Pampa saw her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, September 6, 2018. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church with John Curry officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Della Mae McCampbell was born in Clarendon, Texas, to H. D. "Ham” and Della McCampbell, July 12, 1929. There were four boys and three girls in the family. Once Della Mae was old enough to work, around the age of 11 or 12, her father taught her the intricacies of housecleaning. She worked for some of the founding families of Pampa: the Duncan family, the Curry family, the McGuire family, the Key family, the Leverich family, the Bourland family, and the Fatheree family. Della Mae worked for some of these families for four five and six generations. Della Mae, like her parents, took great pride in her work. She was known for how she handled and hosted parties, how she could organize a home and keep it "model-home-ready" at all times. This attribute kept her in high demand for more than 75 years. Della Mae was always willing to serve. She is a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as an usher for 20+ years. She was an amazingly devoted servant, worker, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed but never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Marvin McCampbell in 2010 and a great-granddaughter Quelondra “Key” Monea McCampbell-Smith in 2013. She is survived by two sons, Prince Eugene McCampbell of Dallas and Richard Louis McCampbell of Houston; seven grandchildren, Vicky Kilgore of Denver, Kimberly McCampbell of Dallas, Jacqueline McCampbell-Brown of Houston, Kendra McCampbell of Dallas, Romaine McCampbell of Pampa, Ricky McCampbell of Austin, and Kelvin McCampbell of Worchester, Massachusetts; eight great-grandchildren and many extended great-grandchildren, nieces, great nieces and nephews and great nephews, many friends and many loved ones abroad. “So much for Jesus” - Della Mae
