Dennis Laycock, 61, of Pampa, passed away October 30, 2018 in Gray County.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 5, 2018, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of First United Methodist Church of McLean, officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Laycock was born September 28, 1957 in Pampa to Clyde and Virginia Laycock. He was a 1976 graduate of Pampa High School and attended West Texas State University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Dennis married Kim Chisum on June 10, 1978 in Pampa. He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years. Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, relaxing on the beach and spending time with his family. For the past 26 years, his passion was being very involved in AA where he had sponsored many people. His family was so important to him, especially his four granddaughters who called him “Papa.” He was always willing to help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Chisum Laycock of the home; a daughter, Ashley Holzer and husband Jay of Los Angeles, California; a son, Dustin Laycock and wife Amanda of Austin; his father, Clyde Laycock of Pampa; two brothers, Randy Laycock and wife Lea of Lubbock and Tommy Laycock of Thorndale; a sister, Sherri Hooten and husband Stan of Amarillo; brother-in-law, Jeff Chisum and wife Leigh of Pampa; four granddaughters, Kendall Laycock of Austin, Scout Holzer, Sloane Holzer and Posy Holzer, all of Los Angeles; his father in law and mother in law, Warren and Omega Chisum of Pampa; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Charlie.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Laycock; and a brother, Stephen Laycock.
