Don Hendricks, 91, of Pampa passed away on Saturday June 16, 2018 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with John Curry officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Don was born April 9, 1927 in Corinne, Oklahoma to Roy and Gracie Hendricks. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII for four years. He married Julie Holmes on August 27, 1948 in Wellington, Texas. They moved to Pampa in 1952, where he began his career with the City of Pampa Fire Department. Don retired in 1987 after 35 years of service. He loved spending time and being “Papa” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Hendricks of the home; daughter, Gaye Whitehead of Pampa; two sons, Roy Hendricks and wife Roberta of Pampa and Bobby Hendricks and wife Margaret of White Deer; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Young and husband Freddy, Bobby Don Hendricks and wife Curry, Leslie Cambern and husband Jarod, Britny Zambrano and husband Alfonso, Meredith Sontag and husband Daniel, Austin Hendricks, and Weston Hendricks; 4 great grandchildren with the 5th due in July; 1 great great grandchild.
Don was preceded in death by his daughter, LaMona Gayle Ratliff; four brothers, Lewis Hendricks, R. C. Hendricks, Earl Hendricks, and Darrel Hendricks; and two sisters, Lola Masters and Lillie Cansler.
Memorials can be made to a favorite charity of choice.
