Donald L. “Don” Johnson, 81 of Canadian passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Canadian.
Services will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 24, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel with Lee Cornelison and Bill Gamel, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Don was born November 4, 1938 in Amarillo to Marvin & Ina Mae Johnson. He attended Palo Duro High School. Following high school Don served his country with the US Army, Army Reserve and the Texas and Oklahoma National Guard retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant after 20 plus years. Don worked as a meter tech for K-N Energy for 20 years.
He loved all aspects of guns, fast cars and every type of motorcycle. He and Peggy were married for almost 45 years. They enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time with each other. Don was adventurous, fun-loving, and charming, with the ability to draw people into any conversation.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Marvin Dale Johnson and a sister Diana Sue Johnson.
Survivors include wife Peggy Johnson of the home; a daughter, Cheryl McCormick and husband Tolley of San Antonio; granddaughter, Tori Richards of Houston; sister-in-law, Elsa Johnson of Amarillo, niece, Zapryce Johnson of Amarillo, nephew, Paul Johnson of Lubbock, and numerous other family members and friends that he loved and enjoyed spending time with.

The family visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
