Donald Lunsford

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Dean Lunsford, of Pampa, announce his passing on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at the age of 85.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 29,  2018 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Parnell, retired Baptist minister, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Donald was born on March 27, 1933 to parents Dewey Lunsford and Ruby (Curry) Lunsford. He graduated from Pampa High school in 1951. Don was employed as a draftsman by Pantex, Celanese, Vought Aircraft and Suffolk Steel. He left that profession in the late 1980’s to care for his ailing mother. Donald was an avid pilot and loved all things relating to airplanes. He was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church and almost a life-long resident of Pampa. In recent years, Donald was also a semi-permanent fixture at the local McDonalds where he enjoyed keeping up on local news and visiting with friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his father Dewey, mother Ruby, brother Richard, and sisters Patricia Brazeal and Mary Kay LaFrance.

He is survived by: a sister in law, Bernie Lunsford; numerous nieces and nephews: Gary LaFrance and wife Jennifer, Laura Baird and husband Shawn, Susan Springman and husband John, Faith Turner and husband Michael, Joy Saunders and husband Johnny, Grace Taber and husband Michael, John Lunsford and wife Laura, Hope Snow and husband Jay, Sarah Lunsford and husband Joseph, David Lunsford, Ruth Eades and husband Ron, James Lunsford and wife Jarena, Mark Lunsford, Paul Lunsford and wife Stephanie; cousins: Estelle and A. C. Malone, Charlotte Lewis, Gail and Robert Warner, Kenneth and Carole Lunsford, Joan and Robert Kuhne; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, second cousins, and other extended family members.
