Donna Gaye Sweet

Donna Gaye Sweet, 80, of Canyon and formerly of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in Canyon.

Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Donna was born June 6, 1944 in Pampa to Archie and Viola Bullard. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1962 and attended business school soon after graduation. Over the years, Donna worked at various businesses such as Piggly Wiggly Grocery Story, Celanese, IBP, and Taylor and Sons in Canyon as their bookkeeper. She retired in 2000. Donna was a hard worker and was dedicated to her job.

In 1995 she moved to Canyon to be closer to family. She enjoyed following her grandchildren as they grew up. Donna always did what she needed to take care of her family, even if it meant working multiple jobs. She never complained about anything and often had a beautiful smile. Donna was very crafty and creative. She cut out many Christmas decorations out of wood and would paint and make each piece beautiful. Donna was a talented artist.

Donna was a giving person, who was unselfish and put others before herself. She enjoyed traveling, playing games, and dancing. Donna loved all sweets, especially chocolate.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Don Sweet.

Survivors included her daughter, Dana Smith and husband Jay of Canyon; three grandchildren, Hunter Smith and wife Liz, Lacie Smith, and Lindsey Webb and husband Jordan all of Canyon; five great grandchildren, Hadley Smith, Myles Smith, Emma Smith, Logan Webb, and Haley Webb all of Canyon; three sisters, Bobbie Almquist of Nickerson, Kansas, Jeanne Davis of Pampa, and twin sister, Paula Brock and husband Eugene of Pampa; and a daughter-in-law, Melanie Sweet of Canyon.

Memorials can be sent to a favorite charity.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
