Doris Whaley Gatlin, 89, of Mobeetie passed away on Saturday March 10, 2018 in McLean.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday March17, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Boyd Williams and George Lundberg, pastor of Miami Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Gatlin was born September 23, 1928 Indiahoma, Oklahoma to Jack and Nellie Henderson. She graduated from Pernell High School in Pernell, Oklahoma in 1947 and then attended Draughon Business College. After business school she worked as a telephone operator in Duncan, Oklahoma for several years. On January 25, 1952 she married Doug Whaley in Marlow, Oklahoma; he passed away in November of 1999 after 47 years of marriage. On March 29, 2001 she married her neighbor and friend, James Gatlin. Doris has lived in Mobeetie since May of 1984 and was a member of Miami Church of Christ for many years. She loved to spend her time cooking, sewing, and gardening; her family said she was the best cook and loved serving her family and friends. Doris enjoyed playing 42, card games, and dominoes with her family and friends; she was very competitive. Her family was very important to her and she loved them, especially loved being Nanny and Nanny D to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug Whaley; son, Rick Whaley; four brothers, Chuck Henderson, Jack Henderson, Howard Henderson, and T.R. Henderson.
Survivors include her husband James Gatlin and their children; Evelyn Kincannon and husband Calvin of Mobeetie, Elaine Dennis and husband Tom of Cache, OK, Jana Whaley Gregory of Laketon, Dale Whitten and wife Darla of Amarillo, Jimmy Gatlin and wife Crissa of Pampa, Kathy Orth and husband Randy of Midland and Suzanne Melear and husband Doug of Jasper; 16 grandchildren, Tonya Gilliland, Jamie Holland,Bryan Kincannon, Tim Kincannon, Meranda Dawkins, Kelley Jo Whaley, Andrea Long, Taylen Gregory, Haley Cooper, Chrissy Dennis, Heath Dennis, Raelynne Glaesman, Lindsey Orth, Justin Melear, Sheley Pickett, and Calvin Dale Whittin; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
