Dorothy Jeffrey

Dorothy Jean Jeffery, 87, of Pampa, passed away March 29, 2020 in Crowell.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. 

Dorothy will be available for viewing on Tuesday from 10:00AM - 8:00PM  and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born April 20, 1932 in Kirkland to Oral Clifton and Dora Fay Wharton.  She graduated from Odessa High School with honors in 1950 and graduated from Lippert’s Court Reporting School in 1954.  Dorothy met James Earl Jeffrey while working as a court reporter in Abilene where he was an attorney. They married in 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1999.  After moving to Pampa in 1971, she became a real estate agent.  She later obtained her broker’s license and co-owned Joe Fischer Realty.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Robert “Jimmy” Jeffrey on November 15, 1977, and Thomas Hardy “Tommy” Jeffrey on April 17, 1984, and a brother, Oral Clif Wharton in 2002. 

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Thompson and husband Doug of Pampa; two grandchildren, Julie Thompson of St. Helens, Oregon and James Thompson of Pampa; and two sisters, Icyphene Blackburn and Sharon Shultz, both of Crowell.
