Dorothy Thompson

Dorothy Thompson, 99, formerly of Pampa, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Amarillo.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Rick Parnell officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Dorothy was born on August 21, 1924 in Shamrock to William and Nettie Rogers. She graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1942. Dorothy met the love of her life George Thompson, and they were married on August 10, 1943 in Shamrock. She moved from Samnorwod to Pampa in 1951. Dorothy became a member of Central Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. 

Dorothy was a wonderful woman who cared deeply for her family. She was always there for them and would do anything she could to make sure they were happy. She loved to cook and always had a Sunday lunch for her family. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Nettie Rogers; husband, George Thompson; brothers, Grady Rogers, Leland Rogers, and Roy Rogers; sister, Helen Rogers; and daughter-in-law, Christina Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Middleton, Judy Clemmer and husband Don; son, Darrell Thompson and wife Joy; grandchildren, Jeff Golden and wife Melisa, Craig Golden and wife Christina, Misty Whitacre and husband David; great grandchildren, Sara Golden, Christian Golden, Titan Castro, and Brixton Castro.
