Doug Boyd, 89, of Pampa, died May 16, 2018 in Pampa.
Memorial services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rick Pearson officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Boyd was born September 5, 1928 in Trousdale, Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Oklahoma before joining the U. S. Air Force. After the service, he moved to Pampa and worked at Cabot Corporation for three years. He began his car sales career while still working at Cabot. Doug sold cars on the side until he was ready to have his own car lot. In 1959, he started Doug Boyd Motors. In the 1970’s he began selling Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge for about ten years, and then decided he would go back to just selling used vehicles.
Doug had been with his wife and best friend for over 21 years. He enjoyed watching the stock market and he dabbled in the market over the years. He enjoyed his vacation home in Zapata and loved to fish and being out on his boat. Doug loved being with his family and being “PaPa” to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Boyd of the home; two daughters, Jane Webster and Sally Franks both of Pampa; two sons, Steve Boyd of Amarillo, and Greg Boyd and wife Sandi of Pampa; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Digna Chilton.
Doug was preceded in death by three brothers, L. D. Boyd, Russell Boyd and Dean Boyd; and two sisters, Leota Fletcher and Sally Rogers.
