Doyle H. Beckham, 89, of Pampa, went to be with the Lord early November 25, 2017, in Pampa, Texas. Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Jericho Cemetery near the intersection of I-40 on Highway 70 (southwest corner), followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church of Pampa with Pastor Norman Rushing officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Doyle was born October 30, 1928, to Herman and Nellie Beckham. A lifelong resident of Pampa, he attended Pampa schools until he enlisted in the army, serving 8 years in Europe and Texas. Following his military service, he returned to Pampa and married Peggy Schaffer on November 6, 1955. They were married 62 years. Mr. Beckham was a partner in Panhandle Equipment Company in the oil and gas industry. He was a lifetime learner and held two patents. Doyle was also a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and deacon for 43 years. Mr. Beckham enjoyed reading, singing and gardening, but his true love was people. His greatest joy was being Poppy to his granddaughters and Uncle Doyle to a host of nieces and nephews. Doyle was preceded in death by three sisters, Herma Ogle, Edith Wallace Whelan, and Freddie Nell Bills; two brothers, Harold Beckham and George “Buddy” Beckham. He is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; a daughter, Lana Browne, and husband, Curtis, of Lewisville; a son, Robert Beckham, and wife, Darla of Lubbock; a sister, Julie Firestone, of Amarillo; three granddaughters, Joanna Sariles, and husband, Gilbert, and Allison Browne and fiancé, Zach Rozell, all of Dallas; and Calli Beckham of Lubbock; two sisters-in-law, Betty Schaffer, of Pampa and, Josephine Schaffer, of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Bill Musser, of Yuma, Arizona, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
