D. P. "Corky" Williams

D. P. “Corky” Williams, 85, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Sayre Doxey Cemetery in Sayre, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Corky was born to Pate and Bessie Williams on December, 18, 1931 in Sayre, OK. He graduated from Sayre High School in 1952 and attended Sayre Junior College and Oklahoma A&M, currently Oklahoma State University. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952. After his discharge, he married Norma Thetford on May 6, 1955 in Roger Mills County, OK. She preceded him in death in 1996 after 41 years of marriage. He moved to Pampa in 1955 and worked for Cabot for over 20 years. He owned Williams Grocery Store on Browning St. and later owned and operated the Gwendolen Plaza Apartments from 1975 to 1995. He later married Peggy Cudney in 1997 in Pampa. He was a deacon at Central Baptist Church. Corky was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, a son-in-law and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; a son, Randall Williams and wife Connie of Pampa; a stepson, Gary Cudney and wife Gaye of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Kathy Black of Enid, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Idell Buckley and husband Charles of Dallas and Betty Jeter and husband Wendell of Branson, Missouri; and 4 grandsons. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, Texas 79065.
