Earl Maples, 91, of Lefors, went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2020 in Pampa.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors with Cole Goldsmith, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors.
Earl was born on February 24, 1929 in Dye Mound, Texas to Callie and Daniel Maples. Earl grew up and attended school in Dye Mound. Earl would meet Eva Mae Smith while travelling with work and they would later marry in 1949. He went to work early in life at various jobs before settling into the Oil & Gas industry. He later came to the Panhandle and took a job at Conoco Phillips in 1962 and would later retire in 1991. Earl and his family lived in various Panhandle towns before he permanently settled in Lefors. Earl and Eva shared 36 good years before she preceded him in death. Earl would find love again when he met Frances Goldsmith in Lefors and they married on November 6, 1987. They enjoyed their time together riding motorcycles and they loved to travel to many different musical festivals and making an annual trip to Branson, and Big Bend. He also liked the outdoors where he enjoyed spending time on his porch whittling.
Earl was good and generous man who always tried to do the right thing and be there to help others when in need. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and he will be missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the Pampa Nursing Center for their loving care of Earl.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and ten siblings.
His survivors include his wife, Frances Maples of the home; two daughters, Donna Maples-Hall and husband David of Olney and Peggy Putman and husband David of Amarillo; his two sons, Robert Maples of Lefors and Sam Maples of Pampa; 7grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
Memorials can be made to a charity of choice.
