Edward Beecher, 88, of Pampa, passed away February 11, 2024, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Pampa with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edward was born on May 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York to Christian and Anna Beecher. He grew up in both Brooklyn and Manhattan and graduated from Spring Valley High School where he earned a scholarship in track for college, but he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Puerto Rico where he served his country proudly.
As a young man, he married his first wife, Blanche and they had two sons, Craig and Edward, and a daughter, Kim before they amicably parted ways. He found love again when he met Sallie and they married on July 20, 1979, in Pampa and within this union they blended two families. He was a self-employed carpet layer and his career covered over 50 years and spanned several states that included New York, New Mexico, and Texas. Edward found enjoyment reading the Wall Street Journal and he especially liked watching sports that included football, baseball, and golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig; four brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie Beecher of the home; a son, Edward Beecher and wife Melissa of New York; a daughter, Kim Beecher of Vermont; a stepdaughter, Debra Hunt and husband Curtis of Pampa; a stepson, Doug Hollingshead and wife Niecy of New Mexico; grandchildren, Emily Bremmer and husband Brent of Colorado, Dylan Beecher of New York, Chris Hollingshead and wife Maria of Wyoming, Jeff Hollingshead and wife Chassity of Colorado, Kevin Schiffman of Arizona, Michael Schiffman of Texas, and Hayden Hunt of Texas; greatgrandchildren, Kira, Araya, Khiya Hollingshead of Colorado, Jaiden Chaves of Colorado, and Jaden Hollingshead of Colorado; and by other extended family.
