Elidia Villarreal, 75, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at her home with her husband and two daughters by her side.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jim Sinyard of the Carpenter’s Church of Pampa, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Elidia was born on July 9, 1949 in Roswell, New Mexico to Manuel Ramirez and Amelia Mendoza. She was raised in Dexter, New Mexico by her grandparents, George and Dominga Mendoza. She met Ricardo Villarreal, at the age of 15, while staying with her mom for the summer. It was love at first sight, for Ricardo, he knew the first time he met Elidia that he was going to marry her. Elidia said she was too young, but Ricardo promised to wait for her. They were both 18 years old when they got married on August 26, 1967. Together they built their home in Pampa and were blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters.
Elidia was a gifted homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family gatherings, especially the holidays. Elidia was known for her ability to decorate her home beautifully, most notably at Christmas time. Elidia also enjoyed volunteering with Pampa ISD, helping wherever she could. When Elidia was volunteering or caring for her family, you could find her painting ceramic figurines or going to flea markets with Ricardo. She loved watching cooking shows on TV and keeping up with her favorite show, Days of Our Lives. Her greatest passion was traveling, and her favorite place was Hawaii. Elidia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Dominga Mendoza; her parents, Manuel Ramirez and Amelia Mendoza; two sons, Rick Villarreal and Anthony Villarreal; one brother, Eloy Ramirez, Sr.; sister and best friend, Diana Sanchez; one granddaughter, Betthany Caviness; and her close friend and soul sister, Alice Molina.
She is survived by her spouse of 57 years, Ricardo Villarreal of the home; two daughters, Geneva Villarreal and Katrina Villarreal both of Pampa; seven siblings, Leroy Ramirez of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lorena Camacho and husband Raul of San Angelo, Larry Zamora and wife Sharon of Wheeler, Melissa Cunningham and husband Brian of Bixby, Oklahoma, Christina Clark and husband Noel of Norfolk, Virginia, Vina Ramirez of Odessa, and Rachel Ramirez and husband Abel of Odessa; nine grandchildren, Damian Villarreal, Nicholas Villarreal, Alicia Villarreal, Eric Villarreal, Jasmine Villarreal, Roc Doan, Rayna Doan, Michael Villarreal, and Ava Villarreal; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
