Elidia was born on July 9, 1949 in Roswell, New Mexico to Manuel Ramirez and Amelia Mendoza. She was raised in Dexter, New Mexico by her grandparents, George and Dominga Mendoza. She met Ricardo Villarreal, at the age of 15, while staying with her mom for the summer. It was love at first sight, for Ricardo, he knew the first time he met Elidia that he was going to marry her. Elidia said she was too young, but Ricardo promised to wait for her. They were both 18 years old when they got married on August 26, 1967. Together they built their home in Pampa and were blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters.

Elidia was a gifted homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family gatherings, especially the holidays. Elidia was known for her ability to decorate her home beautifully, most notably at Christmas time. Elidia also enjoyed volunteering with Pampa ISD, helping wherever she could. When Elidia was volunteering or caring for her family, you could find her painting ceramic figurines or going to flea markets with Ricardo. She loved watching cooking shows on TV and keeping up with her favorite show, Days of Our Lives. Her greatest passion was traveling, and her favorite place was Hawaii. Elidia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Dominga Mendoza; her parents, Manuel Ramirez and Amelia Mendoza; two sons, Rick Villarreal and Anthony Villarreal; one brother, Eloy Ramirez, Sr.; sister and best friend, Diana Sanchez; one granddaughter, Betthany Caviness; and her close friend and soul sister, Alice Molina.
