Elizabeth Hernandez, 65, of Colton, California and formerly of Pampa, passed away April 13, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Juan Carlos Barragan, pastor of St Joseph Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Elizabeth was born on June 9, 1953 in Pampa to Maria and Baltazar Hernandez. She attended school in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School. After graduating, Elizabeth began her lifelong service to her God and the Catholic Church. She entered the order of Carmelite sisters. After leaving the convent she enrolled in Northern Arizona University. After graduating college, she went to work for the San Bernardino Arch Diocese Youth Ministry, where she faithfully served for over 30 years. She headed many community music services. When Elizabeth wasn’t serving her Lord, church, or community, she found enjoyment playing the guitar and playing music. She will be remembered as a loving servant of God, a loving sister, aunt, friend, and she will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; by four brothers and by four sisters.
Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Hernandez of Pampa, Tony Hernandez of Amarillo and Joaquin Hernandez of Seattle; three sisters, Mary Ellen Rodriguez and husband Butch of Pampa, Becky Erickson and husband Al of Oklahoma City, OK, Lucy Cobb of Houston; her loving dog, Jimba; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
