Elizabeth Jan Ellis Wood

Elizabeth Jan Ellis Wood, 63, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2017 in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Brother Phillip Gellenbeck, pastor of the Church of God of Guthrie, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wood was born January 20, 1954 five miles west of Pampa to Ernest and Velda Ellis. She attended schools in Pampa, and married William “Bill” Wood on December 10, 1969 in Pampa. Jan was a CNA in the private sector and later at the Meredith House for over five years. In 2009, her health caused her to retire. Immediately after her retirement, she started having weekly “Granny Night” for her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God in Guthrie, Oklahoma and participated in camp meetings every December and May. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Wood; a grandson, Jeremiah Wood; a brother, Stephen Ellis; and her twin sister, Margaret Ann Hulsey. Survivors include her husband, Bill Wood of Pampa; two daughters, Angela Carver and husband Thomas and Kristina Wood, all of Pampa; three sons, Michael Wood, Daniel Wood and wife Lezlea and Chris Wood, all of Pampa; four sisters, Stacey Stubbs and husband Eugene and Alinet Oxley and husband Kelly, all of Pampa, Kathy Taylor of Rogers, New Mexico, and Marsha Lermon and husband Mike of Owasso, Oklahoma; four brothers, Kedron Ellis of Portland, Oregon, Keldon Ellis and wife Rita of Pampa, Weldon Ellis and wife Brenda and David Ellis and wife Olga, all of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
