Eric Shipman, 53, of Pampa, passed away on December 4, 2023, at home in Pampa.

 

Celebration of life services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Michael Erickson of the Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. A burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

 

Eric will be available for viewing from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday and 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM on Friday.

 

Eric was born on April 6, 1970, in Amarillo to Lane and Donna Shipman. As a young boy his family moved to Pampa where he grew up, attended, and graduated school. After high school, Eric joined the workforce. He entered the oil and gas industry, serving at a few different drilling outfits. Eventually, Eric began his long career in the automotive industry. First, he started with Eagle Radiator and then onto Utility Tire, a long-time mechanic position covering 17 years before his passing.

 

In his spare time, Eric found much enjoyment being outdoors fishing and camping whenever he could. He also took great pleasure and pride in cooking, grilling, and hosting people. He was a hard-working man who was calm, relaxed, and giving person who often put others before himself. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, James and Angie Freeman; and his paternal grandparents, James and Katie Shipman.

 

Eric is survived by his daughter, Ashley Howsey and husband Justin of Odessa; four grandchildren, Kensley, Payton, Maverick, and Lincoln; a brother, James Shipman and wife Angie of Amarillo; an aunt, Jamee Smith and husband Donnie of Mandeville, Louisiana; two nieces, Laney Shipman, and Ryleigh Shipman, both of Amarillo; a nephew, Blaine Shipman of Amarillo; two uncles, Don Shipman and wife Rayann of Cartwright, Oklahoma, and James Shipman of Greenville; cousins, Angela Burton and husband Lance, and Madison Burton, all of Bakersfield, California; and other extended family.
