Ethel Stubblefield, 97, of Pampa passed away on August 2, 2020 in Plainview.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Mike Varner, Ethel’s nephew, officiating. Arrangements are under the directions of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Ethel was born February 18, 1923 in Walters, Oklahoma to William and Holland Swinford. She married Wilfred Stubblefield on October 8, 1946 in Vernon. He preceded her in death in 2004. After they married, and living in Burkburnett for a year, they made their home in Pampa in 1954. She was a 55-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church since 1971. Ethel started working at Walmart in 1985, at the age of 62, and retired in 2007 at the age of 84. Her hobbies included sewing, she would sew outfits for her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She also enjoyed cooking and having her family all together. She was 1 of 12 children growing up in the depression and she had to do without of a lot. As she got older it was hard for her to get rid of things, so she became a collector. Over the years she has collected over 300 dolls, all different sizes and styles. She loved her grandchildren and she will be missed by all of her friends and family.
Ethel was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 3 brothers; grandson, Matthew Shackelford; and 2 twin great granddaughters, Katherine Gene Tapp and Victoria Rose Tapp.
Survivors include a daughter, Janis Roberson and husband Jerry of Plainview; son, Randy Stubblefield and wife Trudy of Pampa; 2 sisters, Jessie Jackson of Burkburnett and Judy Kelly of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
