Fidel Olivarez

Fidel Olivarez, 78, of Perryton, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Perryton.

Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.

The memorial graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. 

Fidel was born September 20, 1946 in Beeville to Ubaldo and Herlinda Olivarez. He married Maria “Mary” Ramirez on December 2, 1967 in Pampa. They were married 55 years before she passed away on May 8, 2023. Fidel was a hard worker. He started working with GTE in the mid 80’s and traveled around a lot with his job. He continued with them for many years and XIT before retiring in 2019. 

Fidel was a devout Catholic and was involved as much as he could. He and Mary were very active in the Acts Retreats and he was in the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He loved to travel with Mary, they would take their camper to Colorado in the summer months and go south to the Gulf Coast during the winter. He enjoyed fishing every chance he could. Fidel had a kind heart and was a friend to many. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; sister, Rosa Arredondo; and a brother, Walter Olivarez, Jr.

Survivors include her three sons, Fidel Olivarez, Jr. and Heidi of Zephyrhills, Florida, Tomas Olivarez of Sunray, and Tim Olivarez and wife Carrie of Perryton; sister, Sally Ortiz of Dalhart; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
