Frances “Fran” Taylor Sealey, 97, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at her home.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery with John Curry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Fran was born on January 10, 1927 in Bradley, Arkansas to JP and Eunice Thornton Taylor. She was raised in Durant, Oklahoma until she was a teenager when her family moved to Oceanside, California. They lived in California for a few years before moving back to Oklahoma. Fran moved to Fort Worth, in 1945, where she met Murray Sealey. The two were married on October 27, 1945. Shortly after marrying, Fran and Murray moved to Pampa and started their family. Fran was a homemaker for many years before taking a job as a buyer at Pampa Hardware in the late 60’s. She worked at Pampa Hardware until her retirement in 1981. Fran and Murray moved to Amarillo in 1981.
After moving to Amarillo, Fran kept busy refurbishing furniture and building a home with Murray. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, and working in her yard. Fran was an excellent cook and loved to feed her family. Her family always came first, and she spent as much time as she could with them.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Murray Sealey; her parents, JP and Eunice Taylor; and one daughter, Pam Grayson.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Criss and husband Terry of Canyon; one grandson, Chad Criss; one granddaughter, Courtney Irwin and husband Matt; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Ethan, and Avery Criss and Peyton and Piper Irwin.
Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choosing.
