Fred G. Brown, 77, of Pampa, died December 20, 2017 in Pampa. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 22, 2017, at Fairview Cemetery, and memorial services will be 10:30 AM Friday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Brown was born November 25, 1940 in Pampa to Marion and Louise Brown. He had been a lifelong resident of Pampa, graduating from Pampa High School in 1959. Fred married Carol Potter on August 27, 1967 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies of El Paso, and Khiva Shrine Temple. Fred had been a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he worked for ten years. He was in charge of the Bus Ministry for several years and was a member of Everyman’s Bible Class where he served as secretary up until the time of his death. After he left the Bus Ministry, he owned and operated Fred Brown Tree Care for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, flying airplanes, tinkering with hot rod cars and riding his Harley. He enjoyed traveling with Carol, especially to Estes Park, Colorado. Fred deeply loved spending time with his family and being PaPa. Survivors include his wife, Carol Brown of the home; a daughter, Sandra Philley and husband Lane of Canyon; a sister, Gayle Brown of Pampa; a granddaughter, Samantha Philley of Canyon; aunt, Betty Ireland of Pampa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Bus Ministry, PO Box 621, Pampa, Texas 79066-0621.
