Fred C. Brown

Fred C. Brown, 86, of Borger and formerly of Pampa, passed away July 17, 2020 in Borger.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Thacker Haynes of Heald-McLean United Methodist Churches. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Fred was born on December 25, 1933 in Albuquerque, NM to Leona and Carl Brown. Fred grew up and attended school in Albuquerque. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While serving, he would meet Beverly Hayter and they later married on May 3, 1955 in Bonham and they shared many good years before she preceded him in death in 2014. Shortly after their marriage,  they moved to Pampa where they would spend the majority of their lives. Fred worked for Sivalls, Welex, and other companies as a welder and other positions. Fred loved the outdoors where he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. Fred will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Fred was preceded by his parents; his wife, by his son, William Brown, and by a grandson, Chad Van Houten, and by a brother and sister.

His survivors include his daughter, Cheri Van Houten of Pampa; his son, Carl Brown of Lefors; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fokken and husband Earl of Amarillo; 6 grandchildren, Rikke Van Houten and wife Veronica, Christopher Van Houten and wife Jess, all of Pampa, Andrew Van Houten and wife Alyssya of Amarillo; Urvish Trivedi of Copenhagen, Denmark, Samantha Van Houten and Samantha Stone, both of Pampa; 8 great-grandchildren, Andrew Josesiah Van Houten, Isabella Van Houten, Donald Andrew Van Houten, Jr., Kooper Van Houten, Lucas Van Houten, and Kate Rhyan Van Houten, Amador Aries Villarreal, and Alisa Paige Villarreal; a sister, Velma Smith of Belen, New Mexico; and a former son-in-law, Don Van Houten of Amarillo.
