Gail “Mimi” Stiles, 73, of Pampa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Amarillo with her family by her side.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Gail was born April 18, 1950 in Hobbs, New Mexico to O.G. and Katy Powell. She attended Pampa Schools growing up. After high school, she married Bill Canaday. With Bill being in the service, they moved around. They lived in Germany, Colorado, Louisiana, and Texas. Their lives took different paths, but they continued to be friends. She owned several antique shops through the years and also owned Canvas World for a few years. Gail was an avid antique collector, she never wanted to part with her junk or antiques because they were her “things”. She was a gypsy at heart, moving every three years to a different house. Gail was very particular about her hair and nails, as she never missed an appointment. Her diet included creamer with a little bit of coffee and any type of sweets. Gail loved REAL country music, especially King George. She was strong willed, sassy, bossy, opinionated, and honest. She was “Mimi” to so many and “adopted” many grandchildren over the years. The last few years, Gail was able to travel and be very spoiled by her best friend William. They enjoyed spending time with each other, and you rarely saw one without the other. Gail loved her people fiercely, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tami Craig; and her twin brother, Gary Powell.
Survivors include her son, Steven Canaday and wife Kim of Pampa; four grandchildren, Bridget Hillman and husband Nick of Woodward, Oklahoma, Falon Gonzales and husband Paul of Pampa, Chantry Canaday and fiancée Sara Evans of Pampa, and Coltan Randall of Pampa; five great grandchildren, Ridge Hillman, Remi Hillman, Aisley Helfer, Zayla Canaday, and Olin Canaday; son-in-law, Michael Craig of pampa; her life partner and best friend, William Ma of Pampa and his family, Chelsea Ma and husband John Fisher of Dumas and their children, Rhyleigh and Landon Fisher, Lindsey Ma of Amarillo and her son, Jaxon Ma, Ashley Helm of Amarillo and her son, Liam Stinnett, and Courtney Ma of Canyon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Memorials can be made to Barrow Neurological Foundation, 2910 N 3rd Ave, Ste 450, Phoenix, AZ 85013 https://giveto.supportbarrow.org/.
