Georgia was born on July 2, 1931, in Medford, Oklahoma, to Roy Lee and Leora Eunice Atkinson Parsons. She attended school in Holdenville, Oklahoma, and enrolled in Oklahoma Baptist University after high school. She later attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, eventually graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While in Ada, she met the love of her life, George Smith. The couple was married on July 3, 1953, in Ada.

For the first ten years of their marriage, Georgia and George lived in Oklahoma, and had their first two sons, Scott and Cary, there. In 1963, the family moved to Pampa and became active members of the community. They also gave birth to their third son, Bryan, in Pampa. Georgia enjoyed doing things out of the house and held a few jobs in town throughout the years. She worked at Tarpley’s Music, First Baptist Church Daycare, and worked with George at the Pampa Youth and Community Center for a while. She was a faithful member at First Baptist Church, and participated in several ministries, including the choir. Georgia was a sweet lady that will be missed by all that knew her.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Smith; and a brother, Noel R. Parsons.

She is survived by her three sons, Scott Smith, Cary Smith and wife Cheryl, and Bryan MacLeod and wife Miryam; two grandchildren, Dakota MacLeod and wife Erica, and Kayla Smith; great-grandchildren, Mina, Juniper, and Luna; and many other extended family members.
