Geraldine “Jerry” Elois Hurdle, 79, of Pampa, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Allen, Texas, after a brief battle with cancer.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Family and friends are invited to The Jam House, 118 W. Foster, for a come-and-go remembrance reception immediately following the burial.
Jerry was born on September 4, 1939 in Kermit, Texas to Clarence and Mable (Stout) Hill and moved to Pampa during her youth, graduating from Pampa High School in 1958. She married Lawrence William Hurdle in 1961 in Pampa and remained a resident for the rest of her life. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell before staying at home to raise her two daughters, Sandy and Karen. She was a room mother and Girl Scout leader. She later worked for 15 years with her aunt Evelyn Hext, and her mother, Mable, preparing the Wednesday dinners at the First Baptist Church.
She lived a worthy, full life. She loved antiquing, and you could often find her at estate sales and auctions. She loved adding items to her many interesting, unique collections and enjoyed selling her finds at Trash and Treasure antique mall where she valued her friendships with fellow dealers. She also loved reading, houseplants, and watching her two favorite shows, Jeopardy and The Young and the Restless. She was most proud of her two daughters and being a Granny. She enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. They will miss her dearly.
Jerry was a kind-hearted angel on earth who lovingly cared for many family members and friends over the years. Her generosity and caring spirit were something to be truly admired. She was known as a very sweet lady and was loved by many.
Jerry is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Wittsche and husband Bill of Allen, and Karen Serenil and husband Roland of Cincinnati, OH; two grandsons, Jake and Nicholas Wittsche of Allen; a sister, Carol Dyson and husband Dale of Shamrock; a brother-in-law, Joe Rutherford and wife Kathie of Houston; and her niece and nephews and many extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
