Glen Harris, 84, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away February 20, 2019, in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pampa, with Rev. Vondel Stevens officiating. Private graveside services will be held at White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Harris was born June 16, 1934, in Pampa to Amos and Verna Harris. He attended Pampa schools, graduating from Pampa High School in 1952. He attended Texas Tech University, graduating with a B.S. degree in 1956. Glen married Erlene Young in 1956 in Anton.
Glen taught vocational ag in Spade and then moved to Montrose, Colorado, where he taught fifth and sixth grades for twenty years. He farmed and ranched in Webb City, Missouri, for twenty years. Glen spent twenty years as a foster parent through the Panhandle Assessment Center in Amarillo, and drove a truck for Evenson Trucking, delivering grain to feed yards.
He was a resident of Pampa from 2009 until 2018. Glen loved to tell stories and raise livestock and was a former member of Tascosa Road Fellowship in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife, Erlene Harris of the home; two sons, Gary Glen Harris and wife Laurie of Pueblo, Colorado, and Michael Daniel Harris of Nampa, Idaho; two brothers, David Harris of Pampa, and Amos Harris and wife Violet of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; three sisters, Charity Harris of Pampa, Mary Beth Williams of Wichita Falls, and Elsie Chriestenson of Pampa; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Glen was preceded in death by three daughters, Carol Ann Harris, Cheryl Lynn Harris and Lovetta Gayle Harris.
